Seven potential Romelu Lukaku replacements for Everton this summer

Anthony Modeste

Many Premier League fans would probably burst out laughing upon hearing this name, after Modeste’s less than successful time at Blackburn Rovers. However, since joining FC. Koln, Modeste is unrecognizable from the striker that once graced Ewood Park.

The Frenchman has scored 43 goals in 69 games in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues, including several goals against the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Modeste’s all-round performances have been nothing short of sensational and he turned down (as reported by Spanish media outlet AS) a mega-money move to China in order to stay with FC Koln and compete at high level.

Having already lived in England and played in the Premier League, the adjustment period for Modeste should be shorter than that of many other players, meaning he could make an instant impact upon his arrival.

Now 29 years old, Modeste may be slightly older than Everton would ideally desire, but with age comes maturity and experience which would be valuable to Everton.

All of these strikers would be seen as a direct replacement for Lukaku, coming in and starting day one for Everton. However, there are a number of talented younger strikers that Everton could look at with the hope of them developing into a player of Lukaku’s quality in seasons to come.
