Luke O’Nien

This is a deal that should be finalised later today. The Wycombe Wanderers midfielder is all set to join Sunderland later today once the final details of a move are completed.

His former club announced a deal was forthcoming on their official website over the weekend and only something dramatic would halt a move now.

Charlie Wyke

This deal appears to be rumbling on and on. The Chronicle is now reporting that Sunderland are ‘increasingly confident’ they will manage to sign the striker from Bradford City before the transfer window closes.

Sunderland have still not met the fee the Bantams want to sanction a sale, but Bradford are preparing for his potential departure by targeting Eoin Doyle of Preston North End.

Six bids

It was reported on Friday that Sunderland had put in six bids for players. The Roker Report suggested that three of those were in the Championship, one was from League One, another in League Two and one from the Scottish Premiership.

It appears the League One player was in fact O’Nien and the six in question did not include recent recruit Jack Baldwin. So that leaves five more bids seemingly out on the table.

The midfielder has returned to training with Sunderland, increasing the chances of pushing through his expected exit. The club previously agreed a fee with Torino for the player, before the Italian side walked away from negotiations. The Sunderland Echo now suggests there is hope an exit can soon be ratified.
