Sessegnon reacts after Tottenham target Djed Spence seals promotion

Ryan Sessegnon has sent a message on Instagram to congratulate Tottenham Hotspur target Djed Spence after the right-back helped Nottingham Forest secure promotion to the Premier League.

Steve Cooper’s men have ended their long exile from English football’s top table. They beat Huddersfield 1-0 at Wembley on a somewhat controversial afternoon.

Forest’s win is probably bad news for a number of Premier League sides. Of course, their squad includes a number of superb players who looked destined for the highest level whether the club was there or not.

And Spence is one of those who will surely be playing in the top-flight next season. Obviously, it is not yet clear whether that will be at the City Ground or elsewhere.

Spence is currently on loan from Middlesbrough. Reports at the weekend claimed that he would be keen to join Forest permanently if they went up.

That is clearly a blow to Tottenham. That same report noted that Antonio Conte’s men are favourites to sign the £10 million-rated star.

Nevertheless, Sessegnon expressed his delight for Spence on social media. The pair spent time together at Fulham. And the Spurs wing-back congratulated Spence on the Wembley win…

Forest must have surely become favourites to keep Spence. The 21-year-old clearly enjoyed his football at the City Ground. And he will trust Cooper if he is given any assurances about game-time next season.

Tottenham meanwhile, still have two wing-backs on their books in Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal. There is speculation that either could leave. But Antonio Conte probably cannot provide the same assurances.

Spence looks to be an ‘unbelievable‘ prospect. And it would be no surprise to see him impress in the Premier League next year.

But unfortunately for Tottenham, it seems that their task of bagging his signature has probably got tougher.
