'Seriously': Journalist says West Ham plotting move for £100k-a-week PL ace, he's 'one of the best'

West Ham United have been linked with Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in recent days.

Last week, the Manchester Evening News reported that the Hammers were eyeing the 25-year-old on loan.

Now, Dean Jones has provided a further update on West Ham’s apparent interest in Wan-Bissaka.

The journalist has told GiveMeSport that links between the two are the ones “to take most seriously”.

At the same time, West Ham are doing significant due diligence on “exactly what has gone so wrong” for Wan-Bissaka.

“I think the Wan-Bissaka link is probably the one to take most seriously,” said Jones.

“But obviously, West Ham at the moment have been trying to explore exactly what has gone so wrong for him.

“They want to make sure that he is still the player that they remember him to be and that there are no other issues here.”

Can West Ham land ‘one of the best’ 1v1 full-backs in football?

It’s not the first time West Ham have been linked with a move for Wan-Bissaka.

The Hammers were seemingly hopeful of signing him in the summer, but the Red Devils turned down their advances.

However, Wan-Bissaka has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The £50million man has just a few minutes of game time under his belt this term.

Indeed, he wasn’t even part of the squad that travelled to Fulham before the World Cup break, despite Dalot being suspended.

It looks as though Erik ten Hag would be happy to part company with Wan-Bissaka, and West Ham could well swoop.

There’s logic to it, as Hammers defender Vladimir Coufal has been linked with a departure from the London Stadium.

Wan-Bissala is certainly a top player who has the potential to shine at West Ham.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even called the £100,000-a-week man “one of the best one-against-one defensive full-backs in the world”.

However, you can understand why West Ham would want to really make sure they’re making the right decision.
