Fulham have had by far the most fluid goalkeeping situation of any club in the Premier League this season, with all three of their first team goalkeepers earning starts this campaign.

Yet after more than three months of debate, it is clear Sergio Rico is Fulham’s undisputed number one, with the Spanish goalkeeper stringing together a sequence of dominating performances.

During Fulham’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday, the Sevilla loanee was superb between the sticks, keeping the Whites in the match and allowing them to take all three points.

Less than ten minutes into proceedings, the Spaniard made a quick double save, first diving low to his left to parry away a driven long shot, and then denying Manolo Gabbiadini moments later from close range.

Throughout the match, Rico stood strong in the Fulham goal, and the goalkeeper swept away multiple Southampton efforts as the Saints searched for a late equaliser in the closing stages.

Rico has done well to establish himself atop the pecking order at Craven Cottage, besting multi-million pound signing Fabri as well as promotion hero Marcus Bettinelli along the way.

Despite the tough competition, Sergio Rico is expertly justifying his place as Fulham’s top goalkeeping option and will be crucial in the Cottagers’ fight against relegation.
