Sergio Reguilon sends message to reported Spurs target after 'magic' display for his country

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has taken to Instagram with a message of appreciation for Gareth Bale.

The Wales international continues to be linked with Spurs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb have even claimed that Tottenham have a pre-contract agreed with Bale.

Bale, who returned to Tottenham on loan last season, is out of contract at Real Madrid this summer.

He will not get an extension there and it’s likely could will return to the Premier League as a free agent in the summer.

This season, Bale has made just four appearances for Los Blancos amid injury troubles.

However, he started for Wales in their World Cup playoff semi-final against Austria.

The reported Tottenham target put in a superb display, scoring twice in a 2-1 win for Robert Page’s side.

Wales Online gave Bale 9 out of 10 and labelled him their star man of the match.

“Believe or not, he actually looked a little sloppy early on,” they wrote.

“A couple of poor touches and sloppy passes must have done little to calm the nerves in the home crowd.

“But my word. Never, ever, underestimate Gareth Bale.

“A moment of utter magic got Wales up and running. A moment of predatory instinct helped seal the deal.

“Not his best ever performance, but his class is obvious. Viva Parasite.”

Bale took to Instagram after the game with a video of his brace against Austria.

And Reguilon showed his appreciation:

Reguilon recently said Bale is his idol and still speaks to him regularly.

“I was waiting for Gareth because I was the biggest fan of Gareth [when they joined together last season],” he said in a club interview.

“He knows! I always speak with him about that.

“When I looked at Gareth I go running there and I said ‘Gareth please a picture’.

“He said ‘okay yes, of course’ and after five years I was playing with him.

“For me I was dreaming to play with my idol and we’re still speaking now.”
