Arsenal confirmed yesterday that Nicolas Pepe has joined OGC Nice on a season-long loan deal, and his countryman, Serge Aurier, who spent four years at Tottenham Hotspur, has sent him a message on Instagram.
The Gunners signed Pepe for a club-record £72 million in 2019 (BBC). He’s still the most expensive signing in Arsenal’s history, but things just didn’t work out for the talented Ivorian at the Emirates.

The last few months have been a bit of a rollercoaster for Pepe.
It looked certain that the 27-year-old would leave Arsenal at the end of last season. He even changed agents to make that happen, but there was an expected twist in the tale last month.
Pepe suggested on Instagram that he will not leave the Gunners this summer. “I worked hard during the summer.
Changed a lot of things. I’m focused and determined with @arsenal and my teammates,” he wrote.
Exactly a month after the above post, Arsenal announced that Pepe has joined Nice on loan until the end of this season, and we must say, it’s the best move for both parties.
Pepe’s compatriot, Aurier, posted an Instagram Story yesterday with a message to the Arsenal man after he joined Nice.
“Let’s go, it’s time for all,” he wrote last night.

It really is a shame that things haven’t worked out for Pepe at Arsenal.
The Ivorian’s quality is undeniable. He’s quick, very good on the ball and is among the best dribbles in the world. On his day, he’s unplayable, but unfortunately for him and Arsenal, those days rarely ever came.
A move away this summer made a lot of sense for everyone. Pepe is now back in France – a league in which he made the world stand up and take notice of him in his final season at Lille, where he scored 23 goals and provided 12 assists.
He could become a superstar again in France, but irrespective of what happens there, it seems pretty clear that he doesn’t have a future at Arsenal.
