Serge Aurier posts emotional message to Tottenham fans after being released by club
Serge Aurier has sent a touching message to Tottenham fans on Instagram after he and the club came to an agreement to terminate his contract.
Aurier, 28, spent four years at Tottenham having joined the club in the summer of 2017 from PSG. He has since clocked up 110 appearances.
But Spurs brought in Emerson Royal from Barcelona for a fee of £26million. Pushing Aurier even further down the Tottenham pecking order.
Emerson’s arrival made Aurier the club’s fourth-choice right-back. Japhet Tanganga, Matt Doherty and Emerson are all preferred to Aurier.
That has seen Tottenham decide to come to an agreement with Aurier – a 66-time Ivory Coast international – to end his contract now.

While it is initially shocking, it is hardly surprising. Aurier plummeting to fourth in the pecking order in the only position he can play is damning.
With Aurier out of contract at Tottenham in June 2022, it made utter sense to cancel his deal early – allowing him to find a new club soon.
Where could he go? A return to France is likely, having played for RC Lens, Toulouse and then Paris Saint-Germain before moving to North London.
Aurier, though, has played more football for Tottenham than any of his other sides – and posted an emotional message to Spurs fans on Instagram.
