‘Sensational’: Tottenham fans hail Christian Eriksen for PSV display

Christian Eriksen completed 90 minutes in the draw against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday – and some Tottenham fans on Twitter hailed him for his performance.

The 26-year-old midfielder has only recently returned from an abdominal injury, but he played an important role in Spurs’ 2-2 draw with the Dutch side in the Champions League group stages.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side needed a European win after losing their first two group games, but found themselves a goal down after Hirving Lozano’s 29th minute goal.

Lucas Moura and Harry Kane then got on the scoresheet to turn the game on its head, with the England captain heading in from an inch-perfect Eriksen cross.

But the game spun once again late in the second-half when Hugo Lloris was shown a straight red card after he came rushing out of his box to confront Lozano, which stemmed from Eriksen losing possession on the halfway line.

Hosts PSV capitalised against 10 men as Luuk de Jong scored an 87th minute equaliser, but the draw means both teams are facing an uphill struggle to qualify to the Champions League knockouts.

It was a mixed return to the starting XI for Eriksen and he may have sleepless nights over his late error, but he did show his quality going forward.

A selection of Spurs fans on social media were still full of praise for the Denmark international following his impact:
