'Sensational', 'smashed it': Some West Ham fans hail their 28-year-old's 'incredible' international display
West Ham United right-back Vladimir Coufal was in great form for the Czech Republic at Euro 2020 on Monday.
The Hammers defender has just finished a superb season in the Premier League.
Coufal joined West Ham in October for just over £5million, linking up with former Slavia Prague teammate Tomas Soucek in east London.
Both players have been amazing for David Moyes’ side, helping them qualify for the Europa League.
Now, Coufal and Soucek are on international duty and helped their nation triumph in their first Euro 2020 game.
The Czechs beat Scotland 2-0 at Hampden Park, courtesy of Patrik Schick’s impressive brace.
Coufal did his bit, prodiving a wonderful cross to assist Schick and also linked well with Lukas Masopust throughout.
Plenty of West Ham fans were delighted to see one of their stars impress on the international stage.
They also enjoyed some banter with Liverpool fans for how he handled Andrew Robertson.
As well as Coufal and Soucek, Andriy Yarmolenko shone for Ukraine and Declan Rice impressed for England.
West Ham’s players have enjoyed great starts to Euro 2020 – fingers crossed they continue to shine.
Up next for Czech Republic is Friday’s meeting with 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia at Hampden Park.
West Ham stars “full of quality”
Ahead of Euro 2020, Scotland captain Robertson spoke highly about Coufal and Soucek.
“We’ve got a tough group,” the Liverpool defender told PLZ Soccer.
“We played Czech Republic in the Nations League and the away game… they’re an incredibly tough team.
“I’ve played against Soucek and Coufal from West Ham and I know how good they are, they’re full of quality.”
