West Ham United are closing in on a deal to sign Albian Ajeti from FC Basel. As reported by The Telegraph, the Hammers are ‘hopeful’ of closing out an £8 million deal for the player on transfer deadline day.
Ajeti had an excellent season in Switzerland last term. The 22-year-old scored 21 goals in 43 games. He has continued that good form into the new campaign, with two goals and two assists in three appearances.
So there is no wonder why West Ham wanted to bring him in. His clear potential is also the reason why Basel have reportedly included a sell-on clause in his contract.

As reported by Swiss source Blick, Basel have negotiated a resale clause in his contract. That means they will be due a portion of any profit West Ham should make on Ajeti if he is sold on later down the line.
West Ham fans will, of course, be hoping that is not necessary. If Ajeti can live up to his potential with the Hammers, there is every chance he can become a long-term striking option.
As for Basel, they will be hoping he one day makes a big-money move out of the London Stadium.
