‘Sell’, ‘give him a chance’: Some Everton fans react to report on future of ‘amazing’ 23-year-old

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the report claiming Toffees full-back Jonjoe Kenny is likely to be part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad next season.

The Goodison Park academy graduate spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Schalke, making 34 appearances in all competitions including 31 in the league.

“I can tell you what, he is already close to becoming a fan favourite here in our stadium,” Schalke boss David Wagner told i News last September.

“He has done an amazing job so far and scored a wonderful goal against [Hertha] Berlin. He is, for sure, one of the best signings which we have made this summer.”

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Schalke had the offer of a second loan move turned down by Everton, with S04 head of sports Jochen Schneider saying the Blues “had other plans”.

The same outlet claims that Kenny is attracting interest from rival clubs, who have been in contact with the Blues.

However, Ancelotti reportedly expects that the 23-year-old – who has made 40 competitive appearances for Everton – will battle it out with Seamus Coleman at right-back.

It has also been claimed that Everton have not ruled out selling Kenny if a club is prepared to meet their valuation but it remains likely, at this stage, that Kenny will stay at Goodison Park.

Here is what some Everton fans have made of the report, with the overall consensus along the lines of giving him a chance in the first team, though some would prefer selling him:
