Kieran Trippier’s form has been questionable all season but last night seemed to be the final straw for some Tottenham Hotspur fans.
With Tottenham trailing 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Trippier scored an avoidable own goal to seal the hosts’ victory.
Under no pressure, the 28-year-old decided to pass back to Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal.
But he had not looked up before making the pass and ended up slotting the ball past his own goalkeeper to double Chelsea’s advantage.

It was a defeat that could all but end Spurs’ hopes of challenging for the title, especially as Manchester City and Liverpool picked up wins.
Spurs are now nine points adrift of the top and need to start looking over their shoulder as Arsenal are four points behind them.
After the game, Tottenham fans took to social media to blast Trippier, who has been criticised on a number of occasions this season.
The England right-back’s defending has often been questioned and his own goal will do little to improve his popularity among Spurs fans.
Below are some opinions on his comical own goal.
