Section of Rangers fans are livid with Ovie Ejaria display in Old Firm derby

Steven Gerrard has suffered defeat in his first Old Firm game as Rangers manager. Rangers were completely outplayed in a game where the 1-0 result did not do justice to their oldest rivals Celtic.

A solitary goal from Olivier Ntcham proved the difference in a game dominated by the home side.

Rangers will now go back to Ibrox and with plenty to consider from this opening stint of the season.

There were some good performances from Rangers players. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor was brilliant whilst Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack put in good midfield shifts. But overall, the majority of Rangers players were overrun by their hooped opponents.

One player who especially struggled was young Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria. The England youth star had a good game in midweek. He scored the opener for Rangers in their 1-1 draw with Ufa in the Europa League. But the impact of that game and the long journey clearly told on the youngster.

Rangers conceded after Ejaria showed his naivety by not taking out an advancing Tom Rogic on the counter-attack. His tiredness showed in how swiftly the Australian got away from him. Rangers fans were fairly unforgiven of his inability to track back on this occasion.

The 20-year-old struggled in the occasion of this massive game and Rangers fans are an unforgiving type. However, he does clearly possess ability and should have been taken off in this game by Gerrard, who made a mistake in not spotting his struggle.
