Aston Villa face Birmingham City this Sunday in one of the most highly-anticipated derby clashes in England.

The first Second City derby of the season will take place at Villa Park with boyhood fan Dean Smith getting his first taste of action against Birmingham.

Smith will already be thinking about what time he should put out against the Blues.

He needs players with character and those can produce magic moments to separate the two sides in a high-stakes affair.

This is why Smith must use this opportunity to give Yannick Bolasie his first start in claret and blue.

Bolasie joined on loan from Everton in the summer and he is still recovering from a long-term injury.

But with his fitness getting better with each game he plays, now could be the time for the DR Congo international to be given a go from the start.

The 29-year-old has a lot of skill and on his day, he can be unplayable in the Championship.

It may take one piece of brilliance to separate Aston Villa and Birmingham on Sunday and Bolasie is the type of player who can produce that.

Aston Villa need Bolasie starting regularly as they push for promotion and now is the perfect time to throw him into the starting line-up.
