West Ham United have made a fairly bright start to the 2019/2o season.
The Hammers are sitting eighth in the Premier League table, having won three, drawn three and lost two so far.
The club are, disappointingly, already out the Carabao Cup after a shock 4-0 defeat at the hands of Oxford United.
But the football has been good from Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and there has been rather a lot to like about the Irons at this early stage of the season.
Something else, or rather someone else, that there has been a lot to like about, is summer signing Sebastien Haller who has been making a big impression on fans at the London Stadium.
The French striker joined for a club-record fee of £45 million (BBC Sport) and has scored four goals up to now.
Arguably, he actually deserves a bit more credit than has gone his way so far.
It’s worth noting that Haller is managing to be effective in the Premier League without the help of a strike partner.
Last term with Eintracht Frankfurt, Haller player up top alongside Luka Jovic and the pair wreaked havoc together.
They struck up a brilliant understanding and that system appeared to really suit Haller.
At West Ham he has been deployed as the sole striker and done extremely well considering it hasn’t been what he is used to.
So far Haller has proven to be an excellent target man, but has also been getting in great positions to put away chances.
To have looked so comfortable in a foreign league in a totally different system is highly encouraging and West Ham fans appear to finally have a top-class striker at their club.
