Sean Longstaff says some Newcastle team-mates are stunned by how good the fans are

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff praised the clubs fans for their support and said that some of the new signings have been shocked by how good they are.

The likes of Miguel Almiron and Joelinton have been signed for big money within the last year but haven’t hit the heights.

And Longstaff told the Chronicle: “It is great to see and that’s what the fans want to see – some local lads coming through. But the new lads that have come in have really embraced what the North East is all about. The new lads were a little bit in shock over how good the fans are.

“They are amazed at how many travel to games. We are just looking forward to the rest of the season. If we can win back to back games again it takes you up the table massively.”

The Newcastle fans who have continued to support the club through the Ashley regime deserve better performances to match their loyal, loud support.

They don’t want apologies after limp displays, especially on the road, they want to see a team which matches their passion and desire for success.
