Burnley manager Sean Dyche has heaped praise on his opposite number Steve Bruce ahead of the club’s weekend clash with Newcastle United.
The Magpies boss is in the good books with fans at the moment having elevated the club to 11th in the Premier League table.
Currently on 22 points, Bruce’s side are actually just two points behind Manchester United in fifth, and a win over the Clarets will see them reach a very healthy position and further increase optimism around St. James’ Park.
That optimism once seemed a world away, but Dyche is unsurprised by the job Bruce is doing.
He said in his press conference: “I wouldn’t doubt him as a manager.
“Top fella both on and off the pitch. He knows his stuff and he is very humble.
“In my opinion one of the best around for me personally.”
TBR’s view – Bruce deserves major credit
The brand of football may not be spectacular, but one thing Bruce has done is make Newcastle hard to beat and defensively resolute.
Things aren’t really clicking in the final third yet and so it is important for the defenders to make sure they’re doing their job.
Bruce was up against it at the start having replaced the popular Rafa Benitez, but slowly but surely, he is winning the sceptics round.
