Seamus Coleman isn’t the future for Everton at right-back

Everton were soundly defeated 3-1 by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday in the Premier League and there were several poor performers for the hosts at Goodison Park.

The Toffees were well beaten at home to leave them ninth in the league table and five points adrift of seventh-placed Wolves.

Marco Silva’s team have now lost six of their last nine league fixtures, which could threaten to bring the season to a standstill.

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has been someone that has completely flopped recently and he appears to be deteriorating.

The 30-year-old has seen his form completely drop off this season and he’s becoming a liability in the side.

He was guilty of being sluggish on the ball in the defeat to Wolves and was caught out defensively too.

Coleman has been an excellent servant for a number of years for the Merseyside club and is a huge favourite with Everton fans, but his time may be coming to an end.

Silva needs to set high levels for his team if they are to break into the European scene again and Coleman may not be the best long-term option at right-back to help achieve that due to the sheer quantity of individual mistakes of late.

Youngster Jonjoe Kenny could be a natural successor, but the club should really go out to sign a quality replacement for Coleman.
