Bale also claimed an assist in the 2-1 loss to West Ham, plus two goals and one assist in the two Europa League last-32 games against Wolfsberger.

Parker, who played alongside Bale at Spurs, will now be looking to steer his Fulham side to victory over the North Londoners at Craven Cottage on Thursday evening.

“You come up against individuals that are special,” he told the Cottagers media team.

“Gareth Bale fits that bracket. I played with him at Spurs and know too well his quality.

“As quick as you look at him, you turn your eye to Kane, Son and Ndombele. We’ll be prepared to face a very good team.”
