Scott Minto had admitted he’s concerned for Leeds United if they drop into the play-offs this season.
The Whites are currently firmly in the fight for promotion this season and their bid has seen them around the automatic spots all year.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team are currently second in the table and two points behind leaders Norwich City, but there is also a third team in the runaway pack at the summit.
Sheffield United sit third in the standings just two points behind Leeds and the Yorkshire giants will face off against each other at Elland Road on Saturday.
It will give Norwich the chance to pull clearer due to the fact that at least one or perhaps both of their rivals will drop points, while a potential winner out of Leeds and Sheffield United would take a massive boost going into the remaining fixtures.
Sky Sports presenter Minto has claimed he would be worried for either Leeds or Norwich if they were to drop out of the top two in the final nine league games.
“I think Norwich and Leeds, although they’re probably the two favourites to make the top two, they’re the two teams I’d worry for, not so much Sheffield United, if they do drop into the play-offs. I think Sheffield United could perhaps deal with it mentally,” Minto said, as quoted by his personal Twitter account.
Leeds have been firmly in the hunt for automatic promotion all season and to just miss out would be heartbreaking, but for now it’s still in their own hands.
It would be so difficult for a group of players to lift themselves up again for the tense play-offs against some quality opponents and Norwich fit into the same category as they are expected to go up from their current position.
Sheffield United are the team chasing and Minto believes they could carry their momentum on to the play-off format.
Leeds need to do everything they can to go up automatically as the play-offs can be a lottery, but Bielsa has hardly put a foot all wrong all season and they appear to be coming into good form at the perfect time.
