Leeds United are reportedly one of the teams in the running for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who appears to be available for loan in January. The Sun is reporting that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the player, but still feels he needs the time out on loan to develop as a player.
The report claims Leeds were keen in the summer and that offers are already on the table from interested parties.
If Leeds were to make a move, then the Scotland international would be the perfect back-up option at Elland Road to Kalvin Phillips.
Like Phillips, McTominay is an all-action midfielder happy to do both the dirty work and the attacking work in the heart of midfield. He wears his heart on his sleeve and could easily operate in the hole between midfield and defence.

He is also capable of dropping into central defence. Like Phillips, who was transformed into a multi-positional player over the summer, he has been made into a more diverse footballer this term.
The ability to drop into the back line is imperative as a holding midfielder under Bielsa, whose team often becomes a back-three when on the offensive.
McTominay would be comfortable performing such a service for Leeds – perhaps more so than Adam Forshaw or Mateusz Klich.
He would, therefore, be an ideal loan signing in January if Leeds United decide to take a look.
