Scott Arfield injury opens door for Ryan Jack at Rangers

Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield has suffered an injury blow during the international break and that could leave a major door open for somebody to seize his spot at Ibrox.

According to the Daily Record, the 29-year-old picked up a hamstring injury during his time with Canada and the Gers are now waiting to hear back news from a scan.

The summer signing has been a mainstay in Steven Gerrard’s side since he joined the Scottish giants, but a hamstring problem could see him sent to the sidelines for a spell depending on the results from a scan.

That would open the door at Rangers and teammate Ryan Jack looks the obvious man to replace Arfield in the starting XI.

Jack returned from injury just before the international break and could have the chance to re-establish himself back in the team.

The 26-year-old was thriving in Gerrard’s side in the early stages of the campaign and could slot into a midfield three in place of Arfield.

Jack is a no-nonsense central midfielder that may be given a lifeline to break back into the starting XI, as the trio of Arfield, Lassana Coulibaly and Ovie Ejaria were beginning to become settled.
