Aston Villa played 90 minutes on the international stage on Thursday night – and some Scotland fans on Twitter destroyed him for his performance for them.
The 24-year-old midfielder lined up for Steve Clarke’s Scotland side in their European Championship qualifier away to Russia.
After a goalless first-half, Scotland were blown away by the hosts and ended up losing by a 4-0 scoreline.
Russia’s impressive striker Artem Dzyuba scored a quick-fire brace, while Magomed Ozdoev and Aleksandr Golovin were also on the scoresheet.
Scotland’s national side are on a steep decline that means they sit fifth in their qualifying group, with both Cyprus and Kazakhstan above them with more points as it stands.
Clarke does have a number of quality players at his disposal from Premier League clubs and the Old Firm duo, but it’s not coming together on the international stage.

Some international fans singled out Villa’s talisman McGinn for major criticism for his efforts and feel he underperformed in the centre of the park.
The central midfielder is such a key player for Dean Smith’s team at club level, but struggled t make the same impact for Scotland.
He showed a decent work-rate that is synonymous with his game, but he lacked the cutting edge going forward that he usually possesses and it was a difficult night for his struggling team.
Here are some Scotland fans tearing into McGinn:
