Aston Villa and Everton have been offered the chance to sign former Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb this month, according to the Times.
They report that Dean Smith still wants another midfielder, despite signing Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea yesterday.
The midfielder left Tottenham in 2017 – under Mauricio Pochettino – but has not been part of Schalke’s first team for a year ‘due to unprofessional behaviour, including failing to report for German lessons’.
He apparently wants to come back to England, and given the fact that Smith wants a midfielder, a move this month could potentially suit both parties.

TBR’s View – Bentaleb has unfinished business in the Premier League
Bentaleb did not get much chance to show his true ability at Tottenham but made a promising start to his Schalke career before it went south.
Villa and Everton fans may not be overly enthused by the prospect of signing a player who didn’t set the Premier League alight and has ruptured relations with his current club.
But he has plenty of time to improve, quality and unfinished business in England. He should have a point to prove – not least to Pochettino – and might be an interesting left field swoop this month.
