It was reported by talkSPORT back in November that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Alexander Nubel from Schalke.
It remains to be seen what part Hugo Lloris plays in Jose Mourinho’s plans when he returns from injury. Paulo Gazzaniga has done well during his time between the sticks, but it appears that Spurs have their eye on a new stopper.

And it seems that they may have received a potential boost in their pursuit of Nubel. Schalke have confirmed on their official website that the 23-year-old will leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.
The Bundesliga side have suggested that Nubel has informed them that he will not be signing a new deal.

But just as Spurs may have felt that they had been given hope over signing Nubel, it appears that his next move may have already been determined.
German outlet Bild has suggested that the 23-year-old will join Bayern Munich and sign a five-year deal with the Bavarian giants.

There is probably little that Tottenham can do if Nubel’s mind is made up and Bayern are prepared to offer the terms reportedly on the table.
But it may not be terrible news if Nubel’s future is all but decided already. They can quickly switch their attention to other targets who are also on their radar.
And reportedly missing out on Nubel may leave Tottenham even more determined to make sure that they land one of the other names on their wishlist.
