Sayers amongst Tottenham youngsters called into first-team training

Charlie Sayers was amongst the Tottenham Hotspur youngsters involved in first-team training ahead of their next Premier League clash.

Sayers joined the club back in December. The 17-year-old arrived from Southend United. He is not a complete stranger to senior football. In fact, he played six times in the National League before his switch.

And it would appear that he is one of the players to have caught the eye of Antonio Conte. Tottenham posted a video on their YouTube channel ahead of their game against Southampton this week.

And amongst those involved in training was Sayers. As confirmed by the Twitter account thfcreport academy, Max McKnight, Alfie Dorrington and Thomas Bloxham were also involved.

Of course, it would be something of a surprise if Conte promoted any of the quartet to the bench for Wednesday. However, it is certainly a promising sign that they are all involved.

Conte has included the likes of Maksim Paskotsi, Harvey White and Dane Scarlett in his squads in recent weeks. So it is not out of the question for players such as Sayers to be involved.

Sayers has already captained the under-18s following his move. And in truth, he did not look at all out of place amongst the Tottenham squad. He looks to have the stature to handle the physical demands of playing in the Premier League.

His experience in the fifth tier will also stand him in good stead if he is named on the bench at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sayers will certainly be delighted to be involved at this stage, given that his move was confirmed just two months ago. It is an exciting sign for his future.

And it will please plenty of Tottenham fans that Conte is keeping the pathway open to the club’s best youngsters. They have several seemingly knocking on the door. And they now have the perfect coach to help them realise their potential.
