A reported Leeds United target is set to join a Championship rival this week, according to numerous reports.
Sky Sports report that Leeds United had a transfer offer turned down by Bury for talented defender Saul Shotton last season.
The 18-year-old had made four appearances for the Shakers during their League One stint but did not play a single game for the club in their promotion campaign of last season.
Leeds however, reportedly along with Watford, made a move to sign the player.
Shotton has been a free agent since August when Bury were expelled from the Football League over financial irregularities.
But Leeds United have not gone on to sign him up. Instead, it appears that Shotton will be playing for West Brom.
As reported by the Express and Star, Shotton played in an under-23 match with West Brom last week and is expected to sign a two-year deal at The Hawthorns.
Whether or not Leeds United had actually rekindled their interest in Shotton after Bury’s sad demise is up for debate.
But the club are always looking to add talent to their under-23 unit so Shotton might be considered something of a miss.
Hopefully, the youngster can now enjoy a settled atmosphere with West Brom and get back to playing senior first-team football.
Leeds United will just hope they do not live to regret failing to secure his services.
