Sanchez Watt orders Arsenal to complete deal for Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, amid reports

Raheem Sterling has emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal according to new reports. His form at Manchester City during 2020-21 has been indifferent, going from mainstay to in and out of the side. Arsenal are linked, and Sanchez Watt has implored his old club to get a deal done.

Sterling, 26, has still managed to play 49 times in all competitions under Pep Guardiola. But the ex-Liverpool ace has only produced 26 goal involvements – scoring 14 and creating 12. Compared to last season, he had scored 31 goals and laid on 10 assists. That is quite the drop off.

The Sun claim Arsenal are ready to take advantage and lure Sterling to North London. Picked in England’s Euro 2020 side, a deal would be tricky to complete but the report says Arsenal are leading Tottenham. He could also be used in a deal that would see Harry Kane go the other way.

Could Arsenal really sign Man City’s Sterling, amid Watt comments?

It is massively unlikely. Arsenal would need to forget about their recent transfer activity, and their careful approach when it comes to fees. Wages wise, the Gunners can afford such a pay packet – especially if Willian departs. But it depends how much City want for their England star.

While he has not had his best season, it could still be the best part of £100million. Arsenal struggled to come up with the £45million needed to spend on Thomas Partey last summer and while they eventually did, a fee for Sterling is likely to be close to double that. Time will tell, but unlikely.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

Intriguingly, Sterling is looked after and represented by the same agency that deal with Liverpool and ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – according to TransferMarkt.
