Tottenham have posted a picture of Emerson Royal on Twitter after his debut against Crystal Palace – and Sanchez Watt has reacted hlariously.
A penalty from Wilfried Zaha and a brace from new Palace signing Odsonne Edouard saw Patrick Vieira’s side cruise to an easy 3-0 win.
The turning point in the match came in the form of a red card for Japhet Tanganga. Palace, though, were more than deserving of the three points.
Emerson Royal joined Spurs on deadline day from Barcelona and was handed his debut – but struggled to cope with the power and pace of Zaha.
Despite the defeat and Emerson’s struggling performance at Selhurst Park, the Tottenham admin posted an image of the Brazilian on Twitter.
Emerson debut: Have Tottenham made the right decision?
It was his first game in the Premier League, his first for a new club. The Brazil international is still young, and came up against a star in Zaha.
The Ivory Coast international would provide a problem for most right-backs throughout European football – even the best. But it was a poor start.
While Emerson’s disappointing display will have caused concern among Spurs fans, he deserves time to show what he is capable of.
The games do not get any easier for Emerson, though. Serge Aurier has gone, Matt Doherty is struggling and Japhet Tanganga suspended.
It means Emerson is likely to start against Chelsea on Sunday. Whether he will face French side Rennes on Thursday is another matter.
Watt reacted to the Tottenham post of Emerson in hilarious fashion. The ex-Arsenal man questioned why Spurs would post, given the defeat.
