Samir Nasri has now shared who he would prefer to win the UEFA Champions League between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The 36-year-old made the comments when speaking to CANAL+ Foot in France.

So, who did Samir Nasri choose between Arsenal and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

Samir Nasri chooses between Arsenal and Manchester City

Well, the Frenchman spent three years at Arsenal from 2008 to 2011 – before joining Manchester City in a deal worth £25m back in August 2011.

Nasri then stayed at the Etihad Stadium until 2017 – making 176 appearances for the Citizens compared to 125 outings for the Gunners.

Therefore, some may have expected the man from Septèmes-les-Vallons to sit on the fence when David Ginola asked who he would prefer to win between Arsenal and Manchester City, although it was quite the opposite.

Nasri – without much hesitation – said: “City”.

Now, some Arsenal fans may be upset by that, seeing as it was Arsene Wenger who gave the Frenchman his opportunity in the Premier League and coached him into the superstar who caught Manchester City’s eye.

Nevertheless, Nasri did technically spend more time with Manchester City – winning his only trophies in England with the Citizens – so perhaps he simply holds them closer to his heart.

Arsenal should back themselves against Manchester City

Despite what Nasri said, we believe Arsenal would have a great chance of beating Manchester City in Europe.

Mikel Arteta has already overseen a masterclass against Pep Guardiola this season, as Arsenal recorded a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium back in October.

Pep Guardiola may also feel added pressure to defend the UEFA Champions League title, so if the Gunners and the Citizens meet in Europe this season, there is no reason why Arsenal cannot prevail.

Whatever the result, it would surely be a cracking game if Arsenal and Manchester City did end up clashing in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage – to say the least.
