Is Sami Khedira Premier League Bound?

Much has been reported about Real Madrid Midfield player Sami Khedira, Khedira had an impressive World Cup for the eventual Winners Germany. Khedira was shoulders above the rest in the annihilation of hosts Brazil but narrowly missed out on playing his part in their Final success over Argentina.

It now seems that Real Madrid seem certain to offload the former Bayer Leverkusen Midfielder who looks surplus to requirements since the arrival of German playmaker Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich. It is hard to see where Khedira now fits into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. A Premier League move looks the most likely with the dynamic Midfield man favouring a switch if the right club shows interest.

Arsenal did seem to be favourites to land Khedira who is clearly someone that Wenger admires but the wage demands could well be a major stumbling block as it has been reported £200,000 a week is what Khedira is holding out for which was also what held up any renewed Real Madrid offer. Wenger knows that Khedira would be another piece of the puzzle after capturing the scintillating attacker Alexis Sanchez from rivals Barcelona. Arsenal are in need of more options especially in Centre Midfield, the arrival of Khedira to the Emirates would bolster Wenger’s chances of becoming serious contenders for the Premier League Crown. Another plus with his arrival would be the great understanding Khedira and Arsenal’s £42 Million man Mesut Ozil have, they were instrumental in Germany being crowned World Champions and his presence would improve Ozil’s performances for sure.

Another side that have been showing interest in Khedira are Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. Mourinho has history with Khedira from his much troubled Managerial times at the Santiago Bernabeu. One problem with this would be the limited game time, Chelsea are well stocked in Centre Midfield with the acquisition of former Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas and also having Nemanja Matic along with Oscar and Ramires who all operate centrally this could well be a move that Khedira would regret.

Any move would obviously be dependent on interest from Arsenal and Chelsea but for me this would be a no brainer for Arsenal, if Wenger and the board can hammer out a deal that suits all parties involved. It has been suggested in various sections of the Spanish press that Madrid are open to doing business at the right price. Khedira would be a fantastic addition for any club in World Football who would improve Arsenal no end and could see them edge ever closer to their first Premier League title since 2004.
