Sam Greenwood confirms Arsenal exit on Instagram, Leeds reportedly set to sign him
Leeds-linked forward Sam Greenwood posted a farewell message on Instagram Thursday morning, as he confirmed his exit from Premier League side Arsenal.
The 18-year-old prospect uploaded a message on social media thanking the Gunners for his two years at the Emirates Stadium, where he’s seen his reputation rise as a bright upcoming player.
He played for both Arsenal’s Under-18s and their Under-23s during the 2019/20 campaign, and he’s an English centre-forward with pace and an eye for goal.
Leeds Live claimed on Monday that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were leading the chase to try sign Greenwood, despite the fact they could face competition for his signature.
The report explained that he could cost as much as £3million with add-ons and that he’s one of the most highly-rated young English striker around.
Leeds Live added on Wednesday that the teenager was booked in for a medical with the Whites and that he will become the latest fresh face to link up with the club’s Under-23s team.
With Leeds now boasting Premier League football, they should be able to attract much better players and it looks like they are on the verge of adding a young gem to their academy side.
Greenwood’s confirmed exit from Arsenal means he’s on the move this summer and reports strongly suggest Leeds will be the team to snap him up, which will be a big win for the Yorkshire side considering his potential.
Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa has proven during his time in charge at Elland Road that he will put his neck on the line when it comes to giving youngsters opportunities, so it may not be long until Greenwood gets some first-team action if he does end up at the club.
