It’s fair to say the mood at West Ham United isn’t great at the moment.

Indeed, the Hammers have started the season slowly, and Graham Potter is under pressure.

However, that said, West Ham did win their last game 3-0 against Nottingham Forest, and things may be looking up for the east London outfit.

Of course, Callum Wilson was amongst the goals in that game, and speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has reserved some special praise for the striker.

Indeed, Allardyce says Wilson is a great signing, claiming that he will score goals for the Hammers if they manage to keep him fit.

Callum Wilson is a great signing

Allardyce shared his verdict on Wilson and how he will do at West Ham.

The former England boss says Wilson will score plenty of goals, claiming that he is a brilliant signing on a free.

Wilson earned plenty of acclaim at Newcastle when he was able to stay fit, but, sadly, the striker has had injury issues for a long time.

“If you keep Wilson fit, you’ve got plenty of goals, mate. What a good signing that’ll be, I mean, you’ve got him on a free and he’s in his 30s, but if you can keep him fit, and even if you’re not going to keep him fit all the time, and if you can only probably use him sparingly now, but he will score your goals. He will finish a game off for you,” Allardyce said.

Callum Wilson’s Premier League record

Callum Wilson could be an amazing signing for West Ham, as Allardyce says.

It’s such a shame that Wilson has had so many injury problems over the years, because when he’s fit and firing, he scores for fun, as the numbers show.

West Ham have struggled to find a reliable striker for such a long time, from Sebastien Haller to Gianluca Scamacca, many of the Hammers’ striker signings don’t work out.

However, now, West Ham have a proven goalscorer at this level, and the only challenge is trying to keep Wilson fit and firing.
