Sam Allardyce has been speaking about Manchester United – and claims he was shocked by what he saw at Old Trafford recently.
The 69-year-old made the comments when speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.
Manchester United have endured something of a rollercoaster so far in 2024.
There were the highs of Kobbie Mainoo’s sumptuous 97th minute winner away to Wolves, and Amad Diallo’s 122nd minute strike to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup.
However, there have been many miserable times, with Thursday’s collapse against Chelsea arguably the worst moment of Manchester United’s entire season.
However – before that disastrous evening at Stamford Bridge – Sam Allardyce was left “flabbergasted” by what he saw at Manchester United…
Sam Allardyce left stunned by what he saw at Manchester United
Well, the man from Dudley spoke to Dion Dublin about Manchester United’s recent Premier League form.
Allardyce said: “I went to Man United Everton, and I was flabbergasted at how poor Man United were on the day, and how many opportunities Everton had. Far more attempts than Man United. Then I watched Man United Liverpool – wow, what a performance that was. But then, Brentford absolutely battered them.
“In three games, you’ve got these Jekyll and Hyde performances. The league form has to be a real worry.”

To be blunt, we have no idea what Erik ten Hag is doing at Manchester United right now – there appears to be no sign of any tactical structure whatsoever.
Red Devils are all over the place
Putting the bizarre performances against Everton and Brentford aside for a moment, we want to focus on something that happened at Stamford Bridge.
After Cole Palmer made it 3-3 in the 110th minute, Manchester United should have accepted the situation and respected the point.
However – in truly strange fashion – almost every player pushed forward when the game restarted, which eventually allowed Chelsea to break and score the winner.

It was a chaotic moment, in which everybody could see the lack of communication and authority at Manchester United right now.
Unless Ten Hag oversees a truly remarkable run of form to end the season, we highly doubt Sir Jim Ratcliffe will keep the Dutchman in charge.
