Sam Allardyce asked if his former club Everton are bigger than Leeds United

Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce has been asked whether his old employers are a bigger club than Championship outfit Leeds United.

The Whites have been battling to get out of the second tier for over a decade now and that means they don’t have the same riches at their disposal as on offer at Goodison Park.

As per TalkSport, Allardyce responded: “It’s very similar, the days of Howard (Kendall) and the days of Don Revie. What would Howard have done at Everton without the ban from Europe?

“Everton are bigger because they’ve got the bigger ambition, the spending power and the new stadium. They’re looking to go places.”

TBR’s View – Premier League finances could transform Leeds’ outlook

Could Leeds get to where Everton are with years of Premier League finances behind them? There’s no reason why not, and that must be the long-term ambition of the club.

Who’s the bigger club? It’s a moot question while they’re in different divisions. At least Allardyce has seemingly dropped his bitterness over being sacked by the Toffees.

That said, he will likely be straight back on that train if this current run of form at Goodison ends with Marco Silva getting sacked.
