Powerhouse Rondon would only play into their hands considering his physical style of play, which is why Newcastle could benefit from a different option at the weekend.
Yoshinori Muto earned his first league start of the season before the international break in the loss to Manchester United, but did score in that match and was impressive throughout.
The 26-year-old is a Japan international with great energy and speed, something that should ask a lot more questions of the Brighton defenders.
Rondon’s time in a Newcastle shirt could still come this season once he recovers from injury, but Muto could the perfect man in attack to kickstart the season.
