Salomon Rondon has sent a message to Newcastle United defender Federico Fernandez, where he’s joked that he misses him.
Rondon, who previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at St James’ Park, has posted a message on Instagram that translates to “I know you miss me”.
Rondon currently plays his football in China, but is a powerful striker that previously showed his qualities in English football before being sold by West Brom last year.
The 31-year-old centre-forward played 33 matches during a season-long loan at Newcastle and scored 12 goals in return.
He’s previously admitted in September that he would return to Tyneside in a few months time if given the opportunity.
“If, in January, I had a chance to sign again for Newcastle I would do it for sure because they gave me a lot and I felt so much when I was at St James’,” he told the Guardian.
Newcastle have a new frontman in Callum Wilson who has looked decent since his arrival from Bournemouth, but if the opportunity arises to bring Rondon back then they should certainly grab it.
He’s a physical powerhouse striker that is perfect for the Premier League and would be able to slot into a group he already knows so comfortably.
Steve Bruce’s side have scored seven goals in their opening five league matches, but if there’s one area of the pitch that needs improving the most then it would have to be in the final third.
