A number of Leeds United fans have praised Salim Lamrani and urged him to come back to Elland Road after Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites officially sealed a return to the Premier League.

Lamrani was Bielsa’s former right-hand man, described by Leeds Live in 2018 as the Argentine’s translator, academic and once deemed “the most overqualified man in Ligue 1” by Le Monde when the two were at Lille.

He became a popular figure amongst Leeds fans, so much so that he was the focus of a charity single written by a supporter last season.

Lamrani left Elland Road in the summer of 2019, but has continued to follow the club and, when promotion from the Championship was confirmed on Friday night, he posted a celebratory message on Twitter.

And plenty of Leeds fans hailed his part in the club’s rise back to the big time, and urged him to come back to the city to join in the celebrations:

Leeds were promoted in wake of West Brom’s defeat by Huddersfield, and will now be crowned champions if Brentford fail to beat Stoke on Saturday or the Whites pick up at least a point at Derby on Sunday.
