Marcelo Bielsa’s former translator Salim Lamrani has taken to Instagram to laud Gaetano Berardi following Leeds United’s win over Middlesbrough on Wednesday.
The Whites are now five points clear of the chasing pack in the Championship. Mateusz Klich’s goal on the stroke of half-time proved to be the difference at the Riverside Stadium.

It was not an easy night for the promotion-chasers. Boro asked plenty of questions of Bielsa’s men. But there were a number of impressive performances on show from the visitors.
The likes of Klich, Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper certainly deserve praise. But perhaps the most pleasant surprise for Leeds supporters came from Berardi.

The 31-year-old went into the game having not played 90 minutes in the league since December. His most recent appearance for the first-team came back in early January.
But the centre-back was outstanding alongside Cooper at the heart of the defence. He did not look at all rusty.
He looked composed on the ball and seemed to read the game superbly. There was one nervy moment during the second-half, but it was a real anomaly in a very impressive display.
And Lamrani felt compelled to take to social media to laud Berardi. The Frenchman noted how Berardi rarely lets the side down when he is called upon.
And based on his display on Wednesday, it is difficult to disagree…
