Report: 'Phenomenon' considering his Arsenal future as Gunners edge closer to Premier League ace

Arsenal ace William Saliba is said to be assessing his options ahead of the start of next season, according to football.london.

The publication is claiming that the north London giants are edging closer to a deal for Ben White.

Initial suggestions were that the defender would be given the chance to impress during pre-season.

However, football.london has been told by multiple sources that the Frenchman could be sold this summer.

The player, who joined after Unai Emery’s first season in charge is thought to be part of the old regime.

What To Expect From England At Euro 2020?!

A raft of players signed before Mikel Arteta took over could be set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Saliba was once dubbed a ‘phenomenon‘.

TBR View: The fact Saliba is assessing his options is embarrassing for Arsenal

The fact Saliba is assessing his options is hugely embarrassing for Arsenal.

He clearly has the talent to succeed as shown during his loan spell with Nice last season. The France youth international won the January player of the month award for the French side.

Meanwhile, his former youth team coach at Saint-Etienne has compared the centre-half to the likes of Raphael Varane and Virgil van Dijk.

If all this isn’t enough to convince Arteta to give the youngster a chance, it’s a sign of the downward spiral the club are on.

Just the fact that a £50m move for an inexperienced defender like White is being considered is questionable.

The Englishman possesses bags of talent, however, does he warrant a steep price tag?

When you have a player of Saliba’s talent in your ranks, there seems no reason to invest in another defender.

David Luiz is set to leave the club at the end of his contract, making the need for an experienced player important.

And at 23-years-old, White isn’t that experience player.
