Saiz weighing up exit offers as Leeds make it clear he’s got no Elland Road future

Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa have made it abundantly clear that there is no way back for Samu Saiz at Elland Road, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Saiz spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Getafe after stunning Leeds by claiming he was homesick and deserting the club midway through the campaign.

But after his return to Spain was a bust – he only started two games – Getafe made it clear they wouldn’t be signing him.

That left Leeds with a decision to make; should they keep the player who was a talisman last season, trying to convince him to stay and put in his all to get the club back to the big time?

Bielsa is certainly a fan; back in November, he was quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Lee Sobot saying: “Samu Saiz is a great player, he is the player who can create the balance that our team needs. He is the only player in the group who can create this balance.”

And it shouldn’t be overstated how difficult it must have been for Leeds to adapt to the loss of a hugely technical player midway through the season with no replacement coming in.

But Leeds have reportedly decided to offload Saiz this summer and he is currently mulling over interest from Spain and one other country as well.
