Ryan Sessegnon has posted on Instagram after scoring his first for Tottenham Hotspur on what was his first start for the north London club against Bayern Munich on Wednesday – and Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has applauded the ex-Fulham star.

Sessegnong, 19, joined Tottenham in the summer from Fulham after multiple windows worth of speculation, linking him with a move to Spurs. But it has been a difficult start to life at Spurs, following his £25million transfer.

Multiple injuries have prevented the England Under-21 international from featuring more than he already has this season, with Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat just Sessegnon’s fourth Spurs appearance – and only his first start.

Spurs went 1-0 down to Kingsley Coman’s smart finish, but good build-up play saw the ball ushered to Sessegnon who lashed an effort past Manuel Neuer. But Thomas Muller and Coutinho scored to win 3-1, and Sessegnon posted on Instagram.

Jose Mourinho made a number of changes to his side which saw the likes of Juan Foyth, Kyle Walker-Peters, Giovani Lo Celso and Sessegnon all start – while Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Harry Winks and plenty more were rested by Mourinho.

Sessegnon will be hoping he has made an impression in his first start which leads to more game time under Mourinho, as Spurs take on Wolves away from home this weekend. Chelsea striker Abraham was certainly impressed, commenting: “baller”.
