Ryan Sessegnon has made eight appearances for Tottenham this season after a £25m million move from Fulham in the summer. He has begun to make his way into the first-team but is keen to stay grounded and focus on improving as the season progresses.
The 19-year-old is not yet the finished article but has shown glimpses of the exciting future he could have ahead of him. Despite being in Jose Mourinho’s last four starting line-ups, the left-back is not getting carried away.

In an honest interview with Sky Sports, the England U-21 international gave an assessment of his time at Tottenham so far: ”I’m usually a very positive player with the ball but the last few games I haven’t exploited areas which I usually would. For the upcoming games, if I am involved, I will have to do better.
There have been questions over whether Sessegnon’s long term future would be on the wing or at full-back. The young Englishman remains open to either position but sees himself better suited to a defensive role.
He said: ”I think at this moment in time I don’t have a preferred position, I see myself long term at full-back. When I watch myself in clips, the way I play, my body shape, I feel like I am more suited to an attacking left-back role.

It will be interesting to see how Sessegnon develops under Mourinho this season. He has a bright future and under the right management could become one of the best left-backs England has to offer.
