Ex-Tottenham players Ryan Mason and Gary Lineker both praised Harry Kane on Twitter after he helped Spurs record an emphatic win on Tuesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team beat Red Star Belgrade 5-0 at home in the Champions League group stages, which was the perfect result following some poor form of late.
Kane played a pivotal role with two goals on the night for the North London club, as he finished and started the scoring.
Meanwhile, teammates Heung-Min Son (two) and Erik Lamela also got on the scoresheet to cap a brilliant attacking effort.
Spurs were thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich in their last European outing and managed to exorcise some demons.
TBR’s View:
Spurs are by no means out of trouble because of one victory, but it was a huge lift in confidence for a side that had previously picked up just one win in their previous seven matches across all competitions.
Kane was one of the standouts against Red Star and showed his predatory instincts, as well as his ability to drop deeper to help link up play.
The centre-forward has now managed nine goals in 12 games across all competitions so far this season and kept his standards high despite the struggles of his team.
He is a 26-year-old striker in the peak of his career and looks like scoring whenever he steps onto the pitch.
