Ryan Kent makes very surprising claim about Rangers star Alfredo Morelos

Ryan Kent has made a somewhat astonishing claim on Rangers’ official website when discussing striker Alfredo Morelos, after struggling to maintain his discipline this season.

Morelos, 22, has won the top goalscorer award for Rangers this season with 29 strikes in all competitions. But he also tops the charts in cards received. He has picked up 15 yellow cards, and five reds.

The Colombia international has received enormous criticism throughout the season from pundits and fans alike. His red card last time out against Celtic – elbowing Celtic skipper Scott Brown – left him without any support.

Steven Gerrard said he had had enough, while many Rangers fans were frustrated by their talismanic striker. However, Kent has described Morelos as “someone you can always rely on”.

“Alfredo has been fantastic for us this year; he has stepped up in a number of games when we have needed a player to produce a bit of magic,” Kent said.

“He is someone we can always rely on to always be there and score goals. He is a great player to play alongside.”

TBR’s view

The Liverpool loanee has starred himself for Rangers, scoring six goals and creating nine. When he, Morelos and Daniel Candeias start in a front three, there are not many better combinations in Scottish football.

Morelos has now missed 11 league and cup outings – including crucial matches against Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final. Rangers have also struggled in the league without him, drawing with St. Johnstone and Dundee.

Kent is wrong, and Morelos is certainly not a player you can rely on. Rangers, instead, will be hoping that the former HJK Helsinki striker has finally learnt the error of his ways.
