Liverpool forward Ryan Kent has his heart set on a move to Rangers but will keep his options open, according to Sky Sports.

The reigning Scottish Young Player of the Year wants to leave Liverpool to play regular football and would relish a return to Ibrox.

It is thought, however, that the 22-year-old has interest from clubs in Belgium and France.

Liverpool value the player at around £7 million which would prove problematic for Rangers this summer (Sky Sports). A deal to take him on loan and then buy him ahead of next season would be more suitable for the Gers.

Kent made 27 appearances for the Light Blues last season. He bagged six goals and registered four assists for Steven Gerrard’s team.

The Rangers boss has been busy adding to his ranks this summer, signing several new faces to bolster his squad.

TBR Verdict – Rangers should remain calm over Kent

The Gers have made a flying start to the 2019/20 campaign.

Gerrard’s men struggled to a 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday but the outcome was perhaps telling. Last season, the Gers may well have lost that game and dropped valuable points in the title race.

This season a squad has been assembled that appears to have ample battling qualities and that can only bode well for future endeavours.

Therefore there is no real reason to rush out and get Kent. The 22-year-old is bound to want a return to Rangers. He clearly flourished under Gerrard and the fans worshipped him.

Had the Gers been struggling in his absence then you could understand their need to sign him becoming more urgent. They have started well, however, and would be wise to remain calm over the whole situation.

Spending £7 million is seemingly out of the question this summer for Rangers and on that basis, any deal which sees Kent go to Ibrox could go to the wire.
