This summer saw Rangers decide to let Ryan Hardie pursue his footballing career elsewhere. The youngster was allowed to leave Ibrox, heading to English League One side Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

It was a deal that left some fans in Glasgow disappointed. The Rangers youngster had impressed on loan spells at Raith Rovers and Livingston. The 22-year-old scored 15 goals in 32 league games for Livi last season.

However, Steven Gerrard clearly felt that Hardie was not going to make the first-team at Ibrox and he was allowed to head to Bloomfield Road.

Yesterday, the striker scored his first goal for the club as he aims to show Rangers they made a mistake shifting him on.

Blackpool defeated Morecambe 5-1 in the EFL Trophy yesterday evening with Hardie grabbing the third of the Seasiders’ goals on the night. The former Rangers man timed a run between the two centre-halves to perfection before firing a low right-footed shot beyond the keeper into the bottom left-hand corner.

It was a great striker’s finish from the player and Rangers fans might still be wondering why the club decided not to keep him around as third-choice to Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe after Umar Sadiq and Kyle Lafferty’s respective failures last term.
