Daniel James continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United. A recent report from The Sun states that a £20 million move to Old Trafford will be done this summer, but the player is currently dealing with a bereavement.
James will no doubt want to emulate his current national team boss Ryan Giggs. He was, of course, a flying Welsh winger at Manchester United and James has very similar attributes in his arsenal.

Leeds United fans will still no doubt be kicking themselves after failing to get a deal over the line for the player in January. The deal, worth £10 million initially as a £1.5 million loan agreement, seemed to be set. James had even completed a medical at Thorp Arch. As reported by The Telegraph, then Swans chairman Huw Jenkins pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute, thankfully for Swansea who can now expect a much higher transfer windfall.
Speaking to the press this week Giggs has discussed that collapsed deal. As reported by the Daily Mail, Giggs praised the manner in which James handled that situation.
“You don’t need to speak to me to see the quality Dan has, especially since the turn of the year. The breakdown of Leeds transfer could have affected him but since then he’s really kicked on.
“He was great in the last game for me. With the pace and temperament he has, he could play anywhere.”
James undoubtedly went on to thrive for the remainder of Swansea’s season. Leeds United’ capitulation and eventually failed promotion bid highlighted just why he was needed so badly in the winter.
If he goes on to emulate the achievements of Giggs at Old Trafford then Leeds fans will always wonder what might have been.
