Tyler Roberts notched his third goal of the season in Leeds’ narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City on Tuesday evening, but as the fixtures pile up thick and fast Marcelo Bielsa may be considering alternatives to give him a rest, and Ryan Edmondson could be one of them.
The 17-year-old made his first team debut on the final day of last season against QPR and was given a cameo against Preston North End in late September, having put pen to paper on a three year contract in the summer.
Having joined from York City at 16 years of age, he soared through from the under 18s to the first team fringes in just a year.
Now, injuries could mean that he is next in line to rotate with Roberts. Kemar Roofe remains on the treatment table and unable to return to first team action whilst Patrick Bamford is a long-term absentee.
Having scored again against Nottingham Forest under 23s on Monday, with legendary striker Alan Smith in attendance, he’s certainly staking his claim.
With a Saturday lunchtime fixture against Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday, Edmondson may hope that he will make Bielsa’s 18 man squad.
